  • Abstract
    The seismic damage of bridges always closely related to the state of bearing damage. This paper firstly summarizes the earthquake damage of plate type elastomeric pad bearing for bridges. On this basis, two kinds of restoring force model of bearing taking account of failure are proposed. By earthquake response analysis of a simply-supported section of Baihua Bridge which was damaged during the Wenchuan Earthquake, the reliability of these restoring force models is tested. At last, by the numerical simulation of earthquake response and a number of research results in earthquake resistant codes, a set of preliminary proposals about the seismic damage index of elastomeric pad bearing for bridge is put forward.
