Abstract
This paper presents the prospective developments in the power generation sector of Kosovo for the short and mid-term future and how to address the environmental issues. The power sector of Kosovo, has objective to reduce the environmental impact of Kosovo power plant. The Kosovo, due to the undefined political status, is not signatory of any protocol, or memorandum at UN level, for reduction of greenhouse gases, but as signatory of EC treaty, should "endeavour" to establish targets and frameworks for significant long-term reductions of greenhouse gases in keeping with the goal of the Kyoto Convention. The Clean Development Mechanism from Kosovo perspective, it includes project of the new generating capacity and existing one as one of potential CDM projects.
