Abstract :
Over the 60 years since 1949, Chinese urban communities, with the transformation of social economic system, have gone through the evolution from Legal community and work-unit community to a new type of community. Fundamental changes have taken place in its construction motivation mechanism, organization structure, social relationship between members and the spatial form. Reviewing theories and methods of the present urban community planning that place more emphasis on the technology than the society, multi-field and multi-perspective theories and methods are formed to adapt to the community development under the new situation, which take the spatial organization as the core and borrow from the related disciplines such as sociology and management.
