Abstract
The Electric Power Research Institute embarked upon efforts to standardize interfaces within the electric utility industry for applications. Included in these efforts was the development of a Common Information Model (CIM). Where the CIM was initially focused on generation and transmission problems, it is being adapted to also meet the needs of electrical distribution. The purpose of this paper is to focus on the application of the CIM to electrical distribution and related efforts
