Abstract :
In this paper a new methodology to tune optimal and adaptive robust PSSs under multimachine schemes is put forward. This methodology combines the Evolutionary particle swarm optimization (EPSO) and robust Hinfin tools in order to maximize not only the damping of electromechanical oscillations in electric power systems but also the robustness of PSSs considering uncertainties in the generator model or in the excitation systems. The proposed PSS overcome the disadvantages of the Hinfin PSS, some of which are also represented here. The performance of the proposed PSS proves to be better than the conventional PSSs, multi-band PSSs, and Hinfin PSSs.
