Abstract :
With a physical model of the rural house in South China, an experiment to simulate flood wave pressure on rural houses was conducted in the flume. A series of wave data was acquired from the sensors placed on the upstream wall. By comparing the measured data with the value calculated from the empirical formula in China\´s "Technical Code for Constructional Engineering in Flood Detention Basin"(GB 50181-93), the study analyzed the causes and the factors of the deviation between them. Based on this, a correction coefficient verified in this paper was developed for application to common houses in rural areas.
