Abstract :
A new Photonic crystal fiber structure with five air-holes in the first ring is proposed. This new PCF possess the advantages of fabrication and welding. The effective index, modal field profile and the dispersion (D) characteristics are analyzed by employing the finite element method. It is found that, by adjusting the fabrication parameters, the quinquangular photonic crystal fiber can achieve similar optical properties, even better, be superior to the hexagonal PCF.
