  • Abstract
    Main Memory Database(MMDB) for its fast data access capability, it is more suitable for fast response and high transaction throughput applications than Disk-Resident Database(DRDB). Especially, as the price of random access memory dropping and a large number of real-time applications disappeared, MMDB becomes hot research topic in the database. It analyzed the difference between MMDB and DRDB in terms of system characteristics, the algorithm targets and index structure, etc; Then it introduces some of the data organization which used in MMDB, highlight several typical types of index structures; At last, it analyzed the algorithm´s time efficiency and space efficiency and given the prospects of future research directions.
