Abstract :
Protein sequence analysis is one of frontier research issues in Bioinformatics. Sequential patterns in protein sequences can provide useful information for protein research, such as protein family identification. Sequential patterns mining is becoming one of important tasks in protein analysis. In this paper, a novel pattern mining algorithm called BioPM is presented based on prefix projection method. BioPM can mine conserved motifs across protein sequences efficiently. Experiments on Pfam database show that BioPM improves performance. The satisfactory experimental results suggest that BioPM may be applied to protein sequences analysis.
