Abstract :
This paper presents approach to optimize physical arrangements for electrical power system overhead distribution lines. The technique employs the genetic Algorithms Theory to find the best geometric arrangement by weighting the optimal phase and sub-conductors spacing as well as the line heights aiming at achieving the maximum power at the end receiver. In order to emphasize the procedure, which seeks for the best distribution line configuration as far as power transmission capability is concerned; the optimization methodology is applied to typical 34.5 and 138 kV overhead lines.
