Abstract :
The author discusses the importance of and the complexity in linking operational proposals to the business strategy. Emphasis is placed on proposals developed at the lower levels in the organization which show signs of significant strategic relevance. In order to gain approval, these proposals need to reflect acceptable linkage within the organization. The nature and concepts surrounding linkage patterns are discussed. Out of this discussion comes a set of guiding principles which can help to promote acceptance of operational proposals and overcome linkage difficulties
