Title :
Model reference adaptive control for a relaxed static stability aircraft

Abstract :
A direct model reference adaptive control algorithm is utilized for the design of a stability augmentation system for the longitudinal axis of a transport aircraft. Control system performance is evaluated for a scenario which includes takeoff, climb and cruise conditions. The adaptive law is compared with a fixed gain controller designed via pole placement. The adaptive controller is shown to be superior for controlling the short period mode.
