Abstract
In this study we propose a novel bimanual selection technique called Lever Cursor for distant target acquisition in the interface of multitouch tabletop. Lever Cursor couples the absolute and relative manipulation modes together. The two manipulation modes are aimed at close and distant target selections respectively. A circle widget is also designed for flexibly switching the two modes. An experiment was conduct to compare Lever Cursor with the absolute and relative techniques, varying the widths and distances of targets. The experimental results show that Lever Cursor has benefits for selecting distant targets. Moreover, Lever Cursor also supports the absolute manipulation mode.
