  • Abstract
A recently acquired local commercial multiple-magnetron industrial microwave oven showed serious design flaws. This led us to a survey of design methods and found that rigorous design methodology is not readily available. This view appears to be true nationally and in design papers generally. This paper examines the cross-coupling between the oven ports both experimentally, and numerically using a commercial finite element software package MSC/MicroWaveLab. Cavity field and power distributions are then highlighted allowing a discussion of sensible oven design
