  • Abstract
    Since investigation of scattering and penetrating of EM fields by objects such as multilayer structures are main challenges which researchers are facing in EMC and biological issues, the aim of this work is to present an analytical method for analysis of multilayer strips with finite width. Scattering properties of a lossy multilayer strip illuminated by a plane wave are analyzed with the eigenfunction expansion technique. In this proposed analytical approach, a strip is approximated by an elliptical cylinder structure. Then using Mathieu and modified Mathieu functions, with complex arguments, generalized matrix form equation is obtained. Once the generalized matrix form equation is determined, the scattering and penetrating of TE or TM waves are found. Results show good agreement between this method and method of moments (MoM).
