Abstract
This paper presents a comparative study on solving the power flow problem applied to transmission and distribution networks. The power flow formulations regarded in this paper are described by injected power equations written in polar and rectangular coordinates, as well as injected current equations expressed in rectangular coordinates. Both well and ill-conditioned test systems are used in order to provide accurate information on performance of each method under analysis. Small and large-scale test systems are employed to validate the proposal of the paper.
