Abstract :
In this paper, we propose the multiuser detection using a Hopfield (1984) network in asynchronous M-ary/SSMA communications and evaluate its performance by computer simulation. We already proposed the multiuser detector using a Hopfield network in synchronous M-ary/SSMA communications. In order to demodulate a data subsequence suboptimally, we develop the multiuser detector for asynchronous M-ary/SSMA communications from the one for synchronous M-ary/SSMA communications. The proposed detector can effectively suppress the multiple-access interference that the performance of the conventional correlator banks degrades from. The proposed detector has suboptimal performance in near-far situations. Although the optimum detector has exponential complexity in the number of users, the proposed detector has linear complexity
