Abstract :
This paper will outline the history of the development of IEEE Standard Performance Characteristics and Dimensions for Outdoor Apparatus Bushing, C57.19.01copy IEEE, All rights reserved and how the input from key utility groups brought these standards to their present form. This will include how these efforts to standardize bushing ratings and dimensions are having a positive impact on increasing the reliability of utility systems in the United States. The paper will include detailed comparisons between the requirements of the IEC Bushing Standard 60137 Insulated Bushings for Alternating Voltages Above 1000 Vcopy IEC, All rights reserved, used widely though out Latin America, and the IEEE C57.19 group of bushing standards. The paper will outline possible scenarios that can be considered for harmonizing your existing requirements for IEC Standard bushings and the IEEE Standard dimensional bushings. Recommendations will be offered to help insure that your new liquid filled power transformers and reactor will conform to your new requirement for bushing interchangeability. In the conclusions the impact of adding dimensional requirements to your bushings requirements for liquid filled power transformer and reactors will discussed in detail.
