  • Abstract
A code division multiple access system with staggered burst pilot (CDMA/BP) is considered for implementation. This paper mainly focuses on the finger (RAKE arm) implementation in uplink demodulator. Burst pilot is used for periodic channel estimation at superframe interval as it is useful for initial channel estimation. While the pilot signal is not present, data-based channel estimation (DBCE) is used for coherent detection. It is simulated to work correctly with closed loop power control under fading channel environment. Finger implementation consists of two parts. One is data based channel estimation and detection block. The other is pilot based channel estimation (PBCE) and pilot tracking loop block. Complexity estimate shows that it requires about ten thousand gates for the implementation using the XC4000 family
