Abstract
Space charge in XLPE (cross-lined polyethylene) with a carbon-loaded semiconducting layer was studied using the laser-induced technique. Both negative and positive space charges were observed in XLPE. The crosslinking of polyethylene seems to enhance electron injection. Both electrons and holes are injected from the semiconducting layer into XLPE bulk and homo space charges
