Abstract :
This paper presents an experimental evaluation of an ecosystem-based architecture in the context of production management. The architecture follows ecosystem principles borrowed from nature where unexpected events trigger cascades of changes. Such changes then motivates the whole ecosystem to adapt to the new circumstances and reach a homoeostasis. Experimental results show how a software prototype absorbs changes while optimises production. This supports the suitability of the ecosystem-based architecture for dynamic environments such as production management.
