Abstract :
The effect of mist on partial discharge in nonuniform fields was evaluated experimentally, and it was found that the mist formation increases the negative partial discharge inception voltages as well as the positive partial discharges. The partial discharge inception voltages increased as the temperature was reduced to the boiling point. This is an effect of mist formation. Mist with an ionic nucleus was formed after the discharge condition was established. The ionic mist is easily broken up by the discharge and does not group up
