Abstract :
The phase analysis of the discharge magnitude distribution is examined in connection with the prediction of breakdown due to void discharge aging. Two new parameters, G and C, are proposed to indicate the SPMD (swarming pulsed micro discharge), the main prebreakdown mode, G is the center of gravity and C is the gradient of the discharge magnitude distribution. When SPMD occurs, the breakdown of an insulating material can be predicted using the proposed parameters
