Abstract :
Based on the finite element theory, taking a suspension footbridge for example, it is used the finite element analysis software called MIDAS/Civil builded bridge element model to carry out the static analysis, to research the influences of different sag-to-span ratio and the constrained way between the cable and the tower on static behavior of suspension. The results showed that, the cable stress increase gradually with the decreasing of the sag-to-span ratio. Under the mid-span concentrated load, as the decreasing of the sag-to-span ratio, the deflection value of the mid-span point is reduced gradually. It has a very small influence on the cable stress and stiffening girder deflection when changing the constrained conditions. It shows that the results in this paper can be used in structural analysis for long-span suspension bridges of the same kind.
