Abstract :
We examine the problem of transmitting a hierarchically compressed source signal over a network taking into account link capacity constraints. We consider two different optimality criteria, the minimax and the average distortion, and present an algorithm which solves the problem in the former case and a variant which serves as a heuristic for the latter case. Simulation results are also provided
