Abstract :
Medium voltage cable incorporating high stress design with the appropriate EPR insulation demonstrated a significant safety margin when subjected to both AEIC CS6-87 and CS6-96 qualification test. This indicates that high stress designed EPR cables can operate on typical utility network systems as PILC replacements. This is confirmed by the AEIC design of l/O AWG, 35 kV, 8.76 mm (345 mil) insulation, which has been in operation for over 20 years with a excellent service record. The test results also show that Weibull statistical analysis can be used to assess and verify a particular design of medium voltage cables
