Title :
Flashover of overhead HVTL insulators under desert pollution conditions

Abstract :
A technique for simulating the natural pollution conditions of overhead high-voltage transmission lines (HVTLs) in the desert is presented. A laboratory simulation of dew formation was carried out. Simultaneous fog and dew represent the most severe operating condition. Under the worst conditions, the flashover voltage reduced to about 17% of the wet flashover voltage and 12.5% of the dry flashover voltage
