Abstract :
Prebreakdown imaging in continuously stressed n-hexane reveals that, in addition to the normally expected negative point discharge, there are two completely isolated positive point events. The commonly observed positive point streamer is supersonic and filamentary, and the associated current has a ramped wavefront and is often followed by a series of fast but relatively widely separated pulses. The anomalous positive point event has a subsonic propagation speed, a bush-shaped image profile, and a discrete pulsed conduction current characteristic that strongly resembles the negative point case
