Abstract :
In the past, several attempts were made to estimate the shape of the vocal tract from the speech signal without making any measurements near the glottis. But, then attempts did not give consistent results. This investigation is an attempt to estimate the vocal tract shape from simultaneous measurements of the speech signal and the vibration on the neck as measured by a miniature accelerometer. It is shown that this procedure gives more consistent results.
