Abstract :
In this paper we report experimental results on polarization and dispersion dependent passively and actively mode-locked laser outputs of a figure-of-eight type fiber laser with a nonlinear amplifier loop mirror and an electro-optic modulator. The experimental setup used for our passively and actively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber ring laser operation is similar to that of the conventional figure-of-eight type passively mode-locked fiber lasers except that a Ti-diffused LiNbO/sub 3/ directional coupler type intensity modulator, an 2.5-m long Er-doped fibre gain section, and a single-mode fiber (SMF) are attached to the linear loop section.
