Abstract
The ATSC T3 S13 Working Group on Data Broadcast Services is about to release its Version 1.0 specification. The purpose of the paper is to provide a description of the most important principles making up the specification. More specifically, four components are presented: a collection of uni-directional delivery protocols; a DSM-CC-based application signaling framework; an MPEG-2 transport buffer model and finally; a profile and level-based classification of data services. The functionality provided by each of these components is reviewed.
