Abstract :
An modified estimation algorithm for radio communication distance along random rough surfaces (RRS) is proposed in this paper. RRSs are generated by the convolution method, and its density functions are selected Gaussian, n-th order power law and exponential spectrum. First, electromagnetic fields are calculated numerically by using the Discrete Ray-Tracing Method (DRTM). Next, the conventional estimation algorithm using three parameters, alpha, beta and gamma, are described and compared with a modified estimation algorithm using only two parameters, alpha and beta. It is shown that the proposed modified estimation method also agrees with numerical result obtained by the DRTM. Finally, we discuss a radio communication distance along RRSs.
