Abstract :
Models of multistage optimal control under fuzzy constraints and goals, which serve the purpose of an explicit performance function, are presented, taking as a point of departure, first, Bellmen and Zadeh´s (1970) seminal paper, and, second, later extensions presented by Kacprzyk (1983, 1996), with an account of most relevant recent developments and newer perspectives. The most relevant case of a fuzzy systems under control is dealt with, and control over a fixed and specified, implicitly specified, fuzzy, and infinite horizon is discussed. The models presented make possible the optimization of control strategy, hence are clearly prescriptive, and also employ an explicit model of the system under control
