The value and protection of spontaneous block of Hanzheng-Street in the view of heritage protection

Hanzheng Street is in full demolition, and soon will be razed to the ground. From the perspective of protection of cultural heritage this paper interprets the meaning of spontaneous block of Hanzheng Street as an informal neighborhoods that developed under formal society. Through excavating the historical, social, and cultural value of spontaneous neighborhoods of Hanzheng Street, it explores the shape and content of the bottom-up growth, then it refines intrinsic characteristic space order and enduring wisdom, thus to point out the cultural Heritage Properties of Hanzheng Street, and propose building a protection system of “street space for texture, spatial pattern of self-built, mode of production and life”. Meanwhile, it is for this unique system to explore the wide significance of protection and value of the spontaneous block of Hanzheng Street.
