Abstract :
With the help of SEM(scanning electron microscope) , we research the initiation and development of wing crack of prefabricated crack marble specimens under uniaxial compression and then do the quantitative analysis. The size of the marble specimens is: 20mm*10mm*2mm, and there is a crack (length is 4mm, width is 0.5mm) in the middle with loading direction of 45 degrees. We take photos when the system is loading, then get a set of SEM images about meso-damage. We deal these images with quantization process and do some mathematical statistics analysis to get the law of the development of the wing crack. These researches law the foundation of establishing the mesoscopic damage mechanics model of rock.
