Abstract :
In order to reduce the noise in video signals, an adaptive recursive filtering technique is proposed. While filtering out the noise, a motion estimation process is used in order to preserve motion details. The shape of the filter transfer function is changed according to type of estimated motion. Therefore, the amount of noise reduction becomes motion dependent. To the test performance of the method, several subjective tests have been done. The results indicate that the noise visibility on the screen is prominently reduced while moving details are preserved
