Abstract :
Wearable artificial pancreas require sophisticated control algorithms to ensure patient safety during normal life far from medical assistance and without the help of glucose infusion. A self-tuning controller was designed to be implemented into an already developed portable micro-controller unit. It was widely tested, by computer simulation, under different operating conditions: it appears to be insensitive to changes in patient behavior, and produces more physiological insulin concentration than PD algorithms now used by bedside artificial pancreas. Its ability to work with subcutaneous sensors was also positively tested by simulation.
