Abstract :
Based on the lateral pseudo-static test on seven cavity walls which have the some masonry type but different reinforcements and constructions, this essay do some research on the position of the initial crack, the fracture morphology development law of the crack, the initial load, the ultimate load of the cavity wall under the horizontal and the vertical compression, in order to provide the test evidence for the determination of economical and effective construction measures for cavity wall. Analytical results show that cavity walls reinforced by the steel meshes covering the whole wall have the greater deformation capacity and the greater ability to resist earthquake than those unreinforced.
