Abstract
A PWM switch model has been shown to be a very good approach to simulate switched mode DC/DC power converters. In this paper, this model has been implemented in both continuous and discontinuous conduction modes. The implementation of the model as a behavioral sub-circuit, allows to select and switch between continuous (CCM) and discontinuous (DCM) conduction mode models during simulation runtime. A review of basic distributed power systems (DPS) structures, modeling techniques and main tradeoffs regarding their simulation are also addressed. Some basic DPS structures are modeled using the proposed model. Averaged simulation results are compared with instantaneous simulations in each structure
