Abstract :
Consumer electronics ICs grow ever more complex while at the same time rapidly evolving technologies and constantly shifting markets demand shortened design cycles. This paper describes the implementation of an HDTV decoder using a novel approach to system-on-chip (SOC) design developed to meet the demand for short time to market. The approach combines a complete definition of the application in a high-level object oriented language, an an advanced compilation system, and a configurable multiprocessor/VLIW platform.
