Abstract :
The increasing demand for localized communication networks implementing electrical power distribution, automatic control, environmental management in buildings, office automation and security monitoring is one of the specific characteristics of local area networks oriented applications. The cost effective solution for this problem is the use of power line circuits as the communications medium for data exchange. A computer network architecture for this is proposed and the protocols stack is developed to support a system of electrical power consumption control that is suitable also for other localized applications
