Abstract
Digital Light Processing/sup TM/ (DLP/sup TM/) technology is applied to a consumer multimedia HDTV prototype. The DLP/sup TM/ technology enables an all-digital display system that inputs the initial digital data, performs digital video processing and displays the processed data in digital form. No analog data conversion and processing are necessary from image creation to display. The result is bright, crisp images with visibly superior picture quality. This paper describes the architecture of the all-digital HDTV projection system and the video signal processing techniques from initial signal input to the final display on a 1280/spl times/720 Digital Micro-mirror Device/sup TM/(DMD/sup TM/).
