Abstract :
In the paper, powder of flux-core wire was produced with self-produced scrap steel as the main raw material and water-atomization technology was employed. As a result the scrap steel is used more sufficiently and properly. A type of ultra thick flux-cored wire with diameter of 6mm was designed. "Inter twist connection" and "inner wire" technologies were adopted in the wire above, which make arc heat distributed uniformly and the wire melted synchronously, so the welding performance was improved. This ultra-thick flux-cored wire has a high deposition rate. A kind of ultra-thick cored wire of 600MPa class which can meet the quality requirements of national standards is produced successfully by scrap steel.
