Abstract :
We propose to use a 2/spl times/2 DCT for the multiresolution progressive image transmission of images with the spatial scalability. Since the 2/spl times/2 DCT has simple computations and insignificant image quality degradation compared to the other convolution-based wavelet filters, it can be used for real-time progressive transmission of images through the Internet.
