Abstract
The electrical engineering (EE) department at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) has always been committed to providing a laboratory or hands-on intensive curriculum in addition to the theory. However, the electric power industry now relies heavily on computer based simulation, analysis, and design tools. The well-rounded engineering graduate needs to be prepared for this type of work environment. The electric power option at UAF has developed a curriculum which begins with a strong laboratory experience. Successive exercises then transition into computer based simulation, analysis, and design
