Abstract :
In this paper the scalogram technique and the multiresolution representation for singularity detection are discussed. A technique for optimal scale estimation is given. An application is presented to the detection of the occlusion point as a preliminary step for the estimation of pulmonary capillary pressure from pulmonary arterial occlusion transients. The proposed heuristic technique gives very good results even in case of transients with a very low signal to noise ratio.
