Abstract
The presentation deals with nickel-cadmium (FNC) and nickel-metal hydride batteries (FNH) based on positive electrodes in fibre-technology. Accumulatorenwerke HOPPECKE have developed these types of alkaline batteries for several industrial applications. A new type of design has been developed enabling higher energy and power densities. In addition to the FNC-A design the block design offers advantages for certain applications. In similar block design FNC-A and Ni-MH-batteries have been built and investigated. For extreme demands in power output a bipolar battery stack is in development. In addition to that a special new design for telecommunication applications at higher temperatures is demonstrated
