Abstract
An uninterruptible power supply (UPS), designed for telecommunications applications needs highest reliability and maximum availability. This UPS system solution consists of a modern, microprocessor controlled UPS unit with on-line double conversion technology, a battery installation with high capacity which is suitable for fast recharge and for adequate high charging current. Part of this system is an additional battery charger, which enables fast battery recharging and a complete integration into the charging system of the UPS. Independent of the UPS size and battery back-up time, the battery charger enables the user to specify the recharging time of the battery system. With additional voltage sensors, each battery block can be monitored individually, and through different communication links the information can be transmitted and archived. According to the battery manufacturer this is a vital information to ensure battery availability
