Abstract
Process education requires extensive data collection in and out of the classroom over a period of time. The authors have developed and tested a tool which simplifies this task for both faculty and students. The tool is known as the Learning Assessment Journal. It contains a semester´s worth of forms for different roles in cooperative learning, reading logs, self-assessment forms and instruments for team reporting. Each form provides hints to assist the student in synthesizing course concepts and in reflecting about individual as well as team performance. Application of the Learning Assessment Journal is discussed within the context of two different freshman seminar courses
