Abstract
Hardware/software codesign is the cooperative design of hardware and software that maintains hardware and software within the same `stream´ of work. One important part of the codesign process is the translation of C code to VHDL. The paper presents a set of transformation algorithms and optimization techniques that help in this process of translation. Also presented in the paper is an example of a multiplication routine written in C that is translated into VHDL using these transformation algorithms
